NOW IS THE TIME FOR KEYS RESIDENTS TO OBTAIN RE-ENTRY WINDSHIELD STICKERS FOR UPCOMING HURRICANE SEASON
MONROE COUNTY, FL – The Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1. Now is the time for all residents of Monroe County who don’t already have a Re-Entry Windshield Sticker to obtain one for their vehicle. Do not wait until a storm is approaching.
These stickers will be needed in the event that checkpoints are required to assure safe re-entry into the Keys following a destructive storm.
Beginning this hurricane season, and in order to make re-entry smoother for everyone, residents no longer will be able to pass through re-entry checkpoints without a valid re-entry sticker. Those who don’t obtain them in advance will be delayed getting back into the Keys.
Residents can obtain one sticker for each vehicle registered in their name. You will need a proof of residency: driver’s license, utility bill, deed, etc.
Residents who live in Key West can obtain their Re-Entry Windshield Stickers from Key West City Hall (1300 White Street) or the Key West Police Department (1604 North Roosevelt Boulevard). The hours for both are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Residents who live from Ocean Reef to Stock Island can obtain stickers at the Monroe County Sheriff’s substations or the Department of Motor Vehicle or Driver License service centers listed below. The stickers are color-coded based on whether you live in the Upper, Middle or Lower Keys for possible zone re-entry.

The Marathon offices do not have the stickers at this time.
Monroe County also has a Placard Program which is available to agencies with representation at the Emergency Operations Center. These agencies can obtain early re-entry placards for their employees from Monroe County Emergency Management.
Businesses not represented within the EOC but believe they have an essential response mission and wish to apply for inclusion within the Second Tier of the Placard Program, may apply directly with Emergency Management. Additional information on this will be forthcoming.
Citizens who go through Monroe County’s Community Emergency Response Training and become part of the volunteer Monroe Emergency Reserve Corps also can obtain early re-entry placards. To volunteer for this program, which is in the works, go to www.monroecounty-fl.gov/volunteermonroe.
